Tiny House in Charleston $25k (For Sale!)
Hey there! I’m moving to Chicago in March 2018 so unfortunately need to sell which breaks my heart. I hope to find someone great to take it on!
My house is about 2.5 years old and 8 feet wide X 20 feet long on a towable trailer. It has a metal roof, wooden flooring, and Zip insulation.
In the main house space there is a small sink with cabinets and a nice stainless steel propane, three-burner stove I installed about 1 year ago. Opposite the counter top and stove, is a wardrobe from Ikea and another wooden counter top that I just made and installed. There is an energy star mini freezer/fridge below the counter top.
Next to the kitchen area is the bathroom which is about 8X3 feet. There are shelves built into one wall and a nice shower around 3X3 ft in size. I have a compost toilet which I love, but there are also normal toilet hookups in case you ever want to connect to a sewer system. The shower/water system is provided by a normal garden house and there is a tankless propane water heater which works wonderfully. Aside from the kitchen and bathroom there is a little living area with a mounted TV and little love seat. There is an AC window unit, and last winter, I installed a propane space heater for warmth in winter!
It has a lofted sleeping area that fits a queen sized bed. The loft also has a little window to let the breeze in on cool nights, electrical outlets, and secret storage compartments where I put valuables.
The house comes with a portable solar unit from Sol-Solutions. The exact unit can be found here http://www.sol-solutions. com/off-grid-solar/solman-clas sic-portable-solar-generators. html. I love this little solar unit. It provides all my power, aside from the electricity for the AC. Unfortunately during the winter when there is less sunlight, it can run low/run out making the fridge difficult to keep cold so having a back up electricity supply during the winter months is ideal. You can recharge it with a generator or by plugging it into an electrical socket. I just camp out whenever this happens which honestly is pretty nice.
When it comes to utilities, I go through about 1 20-lb propane tank every 2 month so a $20 propane refill every 1.5-2 months. Other than that, you just need a hose hookup and some sun!
