Llanerchaeron Estate is a fine example of an elegant Georgian villa and is set in the wooded Aeron Valley. Remarkably unaltered for over 200 years, this self-sufficient estate includes a farm, walled gardens and lake. It has its own service courtyard with dairy, laundry, brewery and salting house, giving a full “upstairs, downstairs” experience to visitors. The walled kitchen, gardens, grounds and ornamental lake and parkland offer peaceful walks and the home farm complex has a range of impressive outbuildings along with Welsh black carrel, Llawenog sheep and rare Welsh pigs, as well as chickens, geese and doves. Guests are also entitled to free entry to the National Trust Llanerchaeron House and grounds during their stay (subject to opening times).
These beautiful cottages nestle on the banks of the River Aeron in the heart of the beautiful Aeron Valley. Abermydr (ref: NT013020), thought to be designed by John Nash in the early 19th-century for the coachman of Llancerchaeron Estate, offers many interesting features including Gothic windows and an octagonal roof, whilst Pontbrenmydyr (ref: NT013026) is an early 17-century Clom, stone thatched cottage offering a romantic retreat for two. Set in an unrivalled location making these properties the perfect base for a peaceful and relaxing holiday and to explore this beautiful unspoilt area of Wales at any time of year. There is a wide, level walk (suitable for pushchairs or wheelchairs) following the river, that will bring you into the beautiful Georgian harbour town of Aberaeron, just over two miles away, where coloured houses can be seen all around, and the harbour is the perfect place for a coffee or an ice cream. There are lots of unique shops and eateries so you will be spoiled for choice. Throughout the summer the town is alive with a variety of events including the festival of Welsh cobs, seafood festival and carnival.
Venturing slightly further afield you can visit quaint New Quay where dolphins can often be spotted, Aberystwyth, with its electric cliff railway, castle, pier and promenade or catch the steam train to Devils Bridge and waterfalls. Walkers will appreciate the extensive walks along the miles of breathtaking heritage coastline path, where you can absorb the beauty of this area and appreciate the wildlife, scenery and stunning beaches and coves. Whether you stay for a short break or longer, you can’t fail to be enchanted by this exceptional part of Wales. Beach 2½ miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 2 miles.
