The space
The casita is a private, recently built studio that has all of the east side charm with none of the wear. The space is perfect for a couple visiting town and planning on taking in all the food, drinks, and activities the town has to offer.
We designed it to have lots of natural light and an open, airy feeling. It's tucked away among trees and off the street, so it's quiet and private. The main room is perfect for eating, working, lounging, reading, or gearing up for night out. We have a heating and cooling unit, so you can set the space to feel exactly how you'd like.
The small kitchenette has the basics: microwave, fridge, coffee and tea making items, toaster, and dishware. All the leftovers you bring home from the delicious restaurants can be stored and reheated the next morning!
The casita is walking distance to several clusters of restaurants. Head toward north to Manor Road for Mi Madre's, El Chilito, Dia Due, Unit D, Haymaker, Salty Sow, and several bars for nightcaps. Head up to MLK and Chicon for a bite at Austin Daily Press. They'll even deliver your food to you at the bar next door -- The Wheel. Head west to Quickie Pickie, Hillside Farmacy, Blue Dahlia, or Micklethwait for beer, wine, and tons of options. Those lists don’t touch East 7th or East 6th streets, which are a 8 minute bike ride or short ride share away. Never wash a dish while you're here!
Guest access
You'll have access to a small patio for enjoying the weather and the light and airy guest house. There is a communal backyard that you can use, too, but warning: it's xeroscaped, so there's no grass to lay in.
Interaction with guests
We live in the main house and love to help visitors experience the best of Austin. We're available for recommendations, but also totally fine if you want to do your own thing! We're always available via text or email and welcome any level of interaction you'd prefer.
Other things to note
Our immediate neighborhood is quiet and full of a lovely mix of people -- young, old, families, new transplants, and old ATX lifers. There is a small park on the corner and a basketball court about a half mile away. You can walk or jog over to the Boggy Creek greenbelt (about .75 miles) and jump onto 2 miles of path. Alternately, walk around the neighborhood (sidewalks are sporadic, but most of the the streets are very wide). You'll get a true "local" experience but with a ton of conveniences.
